How to sell your property

Prepare well, reach serious buyers and close with the paperwork in order.

7 steps

  1. 1

    Step 1

Set a realistic price and timeline

Look at what similar properties in your area are listed for and how long they take to sell. A fair price brings serious buyers quickly; an inflated one keeps a property on the market for months. Ask an advisor for a valuation.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Gather your documents

Buyers and banks will ask for these, so have them ready:

    • Title deed (dolil) and earlier deeds
    • Mutation (namjari) record and land development tax (khajna) receipts
    • Approved plan and any completion or handover papers
    • Latest utility bills and service charge clearance
    • Your identity documents, and any co-owner's consent
  3. 3

    Step 3

    Prepare the property

Small things make a big first impression: clean the property, fix minor repairs, clear clutter and let in the light. Good, bright photos of every room bring more enquiries.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    List it with Property Index

Use Add Property and share as much or as little as you know. A consultant calls you, we verify the details and publish your listing to buyers and tenants.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Meet serious buyers

We screen enquiries, arrange visits and keep you informed. Be ready to answer questions about the building, charges and documents, and to negotiate within the limits you set.

  6. 6

    Step 6

Agree the terms and take a token

Put the agreed price, payment schedule and handover date in writing and take a token against a signed receipt.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Register and hand over

Complete the sale deed registration, receive the agreed payment, clear any dues (service charge, utilities), hand over the keys and help transfer the connections.
